The California Film Commission Releases Production Statistics for Filming on State Property
Hollywood, CA -- The California Film Commission continues to see a strong increase in the amount of production days for feature films and commercials on state property for the first half of 2004. Production days for June of 2004 have increased 51% from 2003, according to statistics released by the Commission today.
From January-June of 2004 Features filming on state owned property have increased 48% from 2003 and Commercial production days has also seen a 14% climb.
Since 1997 the California Film Commission has issued an average of 1,784 permits per year. The most frequent users of the Commission's services have been Still Photographers (35%), followed by Television (23%), Student Filmmakers (17%), Features (13%), Commercials (11%) and Music Videos (3%).
Complete production figures can be viewed on the two charts. The California Film Commission will release the data on a quarterly basis to show any possible trends in filmmakers utilizing state owned property in California. The first attached chart will show the actual number of production days that have occurred on state property each month in the current calendar year. The second attached chart compares production days for the Commission's six main types of users for the years 2003-2004- features, commercial, television, music videos, stills, student films- and how they compare to the prior year's figures.
